A beautiful rose from a bouquet for my wedding anniversary
I've just got a new job, starting in March, in Plymouth! That is about 7.5 hours away from Leeds on a combination of train and coach at the moment until the train lines are fixed from the bad weather and flooding.
I will be travelling to Plymouth most Mondays and back to Leeds most Fridays - fortunately I am being allowed to work on the train. It is a part time job - 4 days a week until the end of November 2014 - as a Research Fellow on a big project covering the management of the English Channel. Working out of Plymouth University but also involves going to France a few times.
It's a big step to be so far away from my family but it is a great opportunity for me to work with people familiar with the sort of work I do myself on marine environmental protection and marine pollution policy.
All this - getting the application done, going down for interview, trying to sort out existing commitments - has meant I've not been on deviantART for a while other than to check out other people's work. Not sure how much I'm going to be able to post but hoping to at least get some new photos as I discover the area around Plymouth (first thing though will be finding a flat to rent since the University have said they'll cover a couple of weeks accommodation only).
Anyway, if I don't have time to thank you - or if it is very late - hope you will understand why.
All best wishes to my watchers and for faves and llamas.
My day job is doing research on marine environmental protection and maritime policy - I am passionate about making sure the seas are safe and clean for everyone to use.
My husband reckons I must have been an elf in a previous life - aren't elves attracted to the sea? I would really like to live near the sea at some point, rather than in Leeds (UK) but at least it is a green city and I live near Roundhay Park. Ideally I would spend my winters on Mallorca (somewhere near Puerto Pollensa would be great) and then spend my summers in North Wales. Oh well, maybe at some point in the future.
My hobbies are photography - obviously - and gardening - also obviously considering how many of my photos are of flowers and plants. I am also keen on walking in the hills around North Wales, holidaying ever year in that area (mostly in Porthmadog) with my family. I also read a lot and do various types of needlecraft - embroidery, tapestry, patchwork, knitting and crochet.
I hope you enjoy my photos - I really enjoy taking them.
If you are here to thank me for a fav, it is my pleasure
If you are here to thank me for a , you definitely deserve it
I try and thank everyone for watching, llamas and favs but if I miss you - many apologies
Thanks to all those who keep coming back and faving more photos - I'm happy you keep finding things that you like
